In the heart of Capitanata, in the province of Foggia, grows the Peranzana olive variety, a treasure imported by the De Sangro princes in the 1700s with French origins. This pure and resilient cultivar is unique in this corner of Puglia and produces extravirgin olive oil of the highest quality. Peranzana olive trees have a compact, inverted cone-shaped trunk and alternate production. The pruning follows the ‘THREE’ rule, and a notable characteristic is the very low self-fertility index. Typically, in plantations, there is a small number of Rotondella cultivar trees to facilitate pollination.
